Minimally invasive esophageal surgery The Sergiu Duca Symposium is an annual event dedicated to different areas of interest of minimally invasive digestive surgery, the guidelines and techniques currently used, and the progress made in this field. The first edition to be held on December 7-10, 2022. The theme of this first edition is Minimally Invasive Esophageal Surgery. The symposium is dedicated in the honor of Professor Sergiu Duca, considered the father of Romanian laparoscopic surgery, having many merits in the development of research, training and the implementation of innovative surgical techniques not only in the Surgery Clinic no. 3, but also at a national level. The first edition of this symposium brings together world-renowned surgeons in esophageal surgery (Prof. Dr. Luigi Bonavina, Prof. Dr. Emanuele Asti, Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Simic, Prof. Dr. Ognjan Skrobic, Prof. Dr. Mircea Chirica, Prof. Dr. Dimitrios Theodorou) together with local experts in esophageal diseases, from specialists in esophageal surgery (Prof. Dr. Nadim Al Hajjar, Assist. Prof. Dr. Călin Popa), to gastroenterologists with experience (Prof. Dr. Marcel Tanțau), but also doctors specialized in the oncological treatment of esophageal cancer (Prof. Dr. Calin Căinap, Prof. Dr. Gabriel Kacso).
