EFS Zurich 2026

The European Foregut Society (EFS) is a young and unique international organization dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary knowledge, innovation, and clinical excellence in the field of foregut diseases.

As the flagship event of the Society, the 6th EFS Annual Congress will take place from 11–13 November 2026 at the new Kinderspital Innovation Center in Zurich, bringing together leading surgeons, gastroenterologists, researchers, ENT specialists, physiologists, dietitians, and key industry partners from across Europe and beyond.

Scientific Focus & Key Themes

The scientific programme has been carefully designed to reflect the most challenging, controversial, and rapidly evolving topics in foregut medicine, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary dialogue and real-world clinical decision-making. Core themes include:

• Complications and failures of benign foregut interventions
• Advanced management of GERD, Barrett’s esophagus, and esophageal motility disorders
• Extra-esophageal reflux disease and upper esophageal disorders
• Robotic and minimally invasive foregut surgery – evidence beyond the hype
• Foregut motility diagnostics and functional disorders
• Obesity, hiatal hernia, and revisional surgery
• Precision surgery, video masterclasses, and AI-assisted diagnostics

The programme features keynote lectures, high-level debates, video masterclasses, best paper sessions, and interactive panel discussions designed to challenge established concepts and promote innovation.

Pre-Congress Courses & Hands-On Education

A full day of industry-supported pre-congress courses on Wednesday, 11 November 2026, will provide participants with practical, hands-on training and advanced insights.

These courses are specifically tailored to offer high-value educational exposure, close interaction with faculty, and excellent visibility for industry partners.

International Reach & Audience

We expect 250–300 participants from most European countries. At the previous EFS Annual Congress in Athens, delegates attended from 22 different countries, confirming the strong international reputation and continued growth of the EFS community.
